Wimborne Wagtails
Swimming Club for the Disabled

Our Swimming Club
Wimborne Wagtails is a local club offering swimming, water therapy, Galas and social activities to anyone with a physical, learning or hidden disability.
We are open to members of all ages and their family and friends. We currently have 38 regular swimmers including 8 children.
Our pool volunteers are made up of 3 trained swimming teachers and 2 swim helpers, who provide assistance in the water and we are currently looking to recruit more volunteers. Subject to availability, they aim to attend most sessions, apart from bank holidays weekends. Carers/parents should be prepared to offer support in the pool themselves at every session.
-
Our members have varying disabilities including cerebral palsy, heart conditions, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, post-operative conditions, autism, Down’s syndrome, learning difficulties and epilepsy.
-
We provide a supervised, safe and friendly environment for disabled people to swim and improve their health.
-
We swim every Saturday 11.15 am to 1.15 pm at QE Leisure Centre, Wimborne. We now hire the pool privately for exclusive use of our members.
