Wimborne Wagtails
Swimming Club for the Disabled
Our Swimming Club
Wimborne Wagtails is a local club offering swimming, water therapy, Galas and social activities to anyone with a physical, learning or hidden disability.
We are open to members of all ages and their family and friends. We currently have 46 swimming members including 9 children.
Our pool volunteers are made up of 1 trained swimming teacher and 4 swim helpers, who provide assistance in the water. Carers/parents should be prepared to offer support in the pool themselves at every session.
-
Our members have varying disabilities including cerebral palsy, heart conditions, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, post-operative conditions, autism, Down’s syndrome, learning difficulties and epilepsy.
-
We provide a supervised, safe and friendly environment for disabled people to swim and improve their health.
-
We swim every Saturday 11.15 am to 1.15 pm at QE Leisure Centre, Wimborne. We now hire the pool privately for exclusive use of our members.
